Dream a Little Dream of Me.

The Tripoli Six Are Free!

The Tripoli SixTwo peeks above our garters to Kristine of Amused Muse for letting us all know!

They’ve left Libya and are in Bulgaria. Allegedly no money changed hands for their release, but I’m not buying it.

Their plight is over. The plight of AIDS victims in the developing world continues to overwhelm aid efforts, which now feel the chill of the possibility of false accusations, long and injust imprisonment, and tortured confessions – all for the sake of conspiracy theories that have no basis in fact.

The Boy previously guest-posted about their plight here and here on UDoJ, and Orac had a good post about the situation on Respectful Insolence.

    It’s a good thing she’s not.

    (From here.)

However, the families of the 438 infected children reportedly agreed last week to a compensation deal worth $1m (£500,000) per child, channelled through Gaddafi Foundation, a charity run by Seif al-Islam, the Libyan leader’s son.

That page has changed quite a bit since I first read it. I wrote a post about it, yesterday, but some of the things I quoted have changed.

    Such as:

However, Libya’s Foreign Minister Abdel Rahman Shalgham said both the EU and France had contributed to the fund, covering the sum needed “and more on top”.

no longer appears on the page.

By the way, I responded to your questions about commenting.

    Thanks for that Berlzebub.

    Kisses and Licks

  3. i read an article that stated, and i paraphrase this “the victims families have received their checks, but are not happy until they have cashed them.” Money was part of the deal to lower the sentences, but maybe not for the releases.

  4. JanieBelle says:

I had read something similar, CJ.

Ransom was paid one way or the other, no bout adoubt it.
