Dream a Little Dream of Me.

Since My EMails Are Again Being Ignored…

Joseph McCarthy, WordPress SpokesmanAnother question. Why are we de-listed from the friend surfer, if we’re not being censored? It’s opt-in only, as you well know. A blogger has to specifically ask for content from our blogs to get it, so your excuse about accidental viewing of our material is irrelevant.

Why will you not give us a list of specific rules that a blog must obey to not be de-listed? Is it perhaps because there isn’t one?

Why are our blogs being singled out?

And since you still haven’t answered my questions from the last several EMails, here they are again:

If you’re so concerned about adult content, why is there a sex tag in the first place? Why an erotica tag?

Kate and I are not the only ones writing adult material, but we seem to be the only ones being quashed.

Why? And why not explain your exact reasoning in public, in the thread set up specifically for that?

What specific violations of what specific rules brought you to your decision? Or was it just an arbitrary whim, as I and everyone else suspects?

Why were we not notified before being de-listed, or even after?

Why are none of the other adult blogs being de-listed?

    Freaking Nazi’s…..
Thought and Speech control stinks, it’s bad enough we have groups like the ADL & SPLC trying to control the it….
If something offends or pisses someone off, they should
    leave a person’s site….
I may not like what you or any other person says, but I’ll
defend their right to say it…..

What a crock of shit! When did Tipper Gore get a job at Word Press.

I think you’re right. I think that they find something unsettling about atheist lesbians (actually, I’m rather partial to atheist lesbians myself but, I digress…) but I found you you all becaus of the science, religious, and evolution discussions. And if bloggers specifically seek sites portraying sex and erotica, then it seems as though you’re only providing what the marketplace and that that would only serve to bring more bloggers to
WordPress. Isn’t that what the advertisers want – more visitors?

What a bunch narrow-minded, nanny state, panties-in-a-bunch, control freaks!

There are a lot of unsettling things in the world. How do we know which are good, which are bad, and which are neither? By seeing, hearing, or smelling them (though the last is not my personal preference).

While I agree with WordPress’s right to control content on its pages, from what I know of this incident, it seems arbitrary. It is not unreasonable to ask for a list of rules and specific violations. Especially if other sites with a higher ratio of erotic : non-erotic posts are not being delisted.

While I find your claim of being singled out plausible, I don’t know how you would support that. It is quite possible that many blogs are being arbitrarily sensored. I mention this just as a check to the human tendancy toward righteous indignation. The arbitrary sensorship of a blog is wrong on its face, without necessarily being a personal campaign.

Being ficticious and smart, I know you realize this. Just wanted to make sure you’re fighting your battle with the clearest head possible.

  6. JanieBelle says:

Thank you for keeping me grounded, as always blipey.

You’re right. We have no way of telling how many blogs are being de-listed by Mark and the WordPress staff.

But surf the sex tag for a few minutes and you can quickly see that you are also right about how fucking arbitrary this is.

    Kisses to you from bo’fus.
