Dream a Little Dream of Me.

Sylvia Brown – Scam Artist

Blogging on Pseudo-Scientific Douche-BagsA peek above our garters to the Reverend Big Dumb Chimp and of course to the world’s greatest astronomer, Dr. Phil Plait, for this one. (Dr. BA has some great additional info, btw.)

If you somehow had a doubt before, here is definitive proof that self-proclaimed psychic Sylvia Brown is nothing more than a horrid little woman looking to steal money from grieving parents or other desperate people.

    Janie,

People get the show they paid for. Isn’t that how religion runs?

    By the way…

The Church is taking donations. Tell me what kind of show you’d like.

  2. JanieBelle says:

heh. I don’t think you’ll want to show the show I want to see…

    😉

I tend to agree with WhoreChurch. I really wanted to type that sentence! :p

I don’t really think that makes me a bad person, however. People who are gullible are sad, but I if they are functioning in society on a daily basis and get taken by something this truly dumb, I don’t feel real bad for them.

I do sometimes take a little time out to try to correct these vultures. There are a lot of people in the “Entertainment Business” who prey of the naive. If I can advise the naive or damage the predator, I do.

Thank God there are people doing the same for Sylvia Brown.

heh heh. I bet you did. Now I want to type it.

I see the value in caveat emptor, especially in cases like AFDave for instance.

But there are some folks who just shouldn’t be taken advantage of, and that’s exactly who that scumbag bitch Ms. Brown targets.

Of course, this is where society’s sense of morality and goodwill should kick in. Sadly, we often just sit back and watch the scumbags operate, as long as they’re operating on other people. I think we have a responsibility to educate people where we can and in areas that we are able to. Just as I think we have a responsibility to learn from others things that they can teach us.

It is when this process breaks down that we are in trouble. SOmetimes it breaks because we don’t try to help; we can fix this. Sometimes it breaks because the audience is just not receptive despite our best efforts. This cannot always be fixed; this is when I don’t feel bad for the gullible.

  6. JanieBelle says:

I guess those folks are the definition of “willfully ignorant”, and I would agree with you.

We should educate when we can, sigh and move on when we can’t, I suppose.

    Hey Janie, Blip,

In most cases (not this one) I think religion/psychics/etc. plays a good role. Why do people flock to a Benny Hinn conference? It’s not because they get healed. They don’t. So it must give them something they want. There is an immediate emotional pay off.

It’s particularly cruel to tell someone their missing son is dead, but they asked. She didn’t call this couple up out of the blue and tell them their son was dead. They got exactly the show they paid for–though I doubt it was the show they expected.

If you go to a psychic and the psychic tells you things that aren’t true, sure the psychic is a piece of crap, but you can’t blame the psychic for giving you what you paid for.
