Dream a Little Dream of Me.

Goings On In The Village

Overview Of KaylaFace's Village

So this is an overview of KaylaFace’s village.

It’s sort of an arial view of the whole thing.

The village is sort of divided into three little neighborhoods.

There’s a reason for that. She’s been collecting village pieces since she was a very little girl. It’s a tradition in both branches of her family.

Little Houses

Her first pieces were given to her by her grandmother, before she was even allowed to touch them herself.

They were just a set of the Dollar Store variety, and they were very small, and not very detailed.

Here on the far end of the village, at the foot of the “mountain” are those pieces, and in the background you can see that the “mountain” shelves have similar pieces.

Through The Square

In fact, she has two or three of some of those houses, because when her grandmother Bea died, she left her entire village to KaylaFace, and they had some of the same pieces.

Through The Square

The neighborhood with the smallest houses she affectionately refers to as “The Ghetto”, because that’s where all the poor people would live.

Through The Square

It’s funny that she would reflect our society at large even her little fantasy Christmas Village.

When she got a little older, she began wanting pieces with a little more detail, and a better selection, and those houses are a little bigger, so those are “The ‘Burbs”.

Now she collects much bigger houses and stores, with yet more detail, and they are even larger.

Through The Park

This is “The Rich People’s Neighborhood”. It’s sort of an object lesson her Daddy uses to remind her that she has to go to college, and why.

He’s always telling her how his parents were very poor, and had to rent their houses in “The Ghetto”, and that eventually they were able to buy a house in “The ‘Burbs”, but that they will never own a house in “The Rich People’s Neighborhood” on the salaries of manual laborers.

Down The Street

Hard work is important, and will take you so far, but to ever get away from living paycheck to paycheck, and to live in a great big beautiful house, you have to get an education beyond high school.

An interesting lesson in such an innocent little thing.

She gets the point of it, which is a good thing.

What Are Those Guys Doing Behind The Fence?

Hey. What are those guys doing behind that fence? Over to the left of the guy reading on the bench?

Bank Robbers

Bank Robbery in progress!

She even has crime. How sad!

Anyway, I just thought I’d share some photos of KaylaFace’s village.

She’s very proud of it, and can’t wait ’til she has room for a big paper mache mountain with a tunnel for the train to go through and all.

Hope your holidays were special!

Love what was done with the village!!! Every detail is amazingly accurate:)

Well except for the three different scales, but I’ll pass along your compliments.

There really is quite a bit of detail to the whole thing.

It’s funny that she does go out of her way to mix the different people in the neighborhoods.

Poor people might have poor houses, but everybody gets along in KaylaFace’s village.

    Even the bank robbers.

    🙂

Never too late to start, Dear Amanda!

It really is an amazing collection, and it’s so pretty. I could spend hours just looking at all the little things going on in the village.

Thanks for giving us more pictures of the village. It’s gorgeous!
