Something You Didn’t Know About Ford

Despite being a Republican, he was pro-gay rights, including the right of non-heterosexual people to marry.

Via Dispatches from the Culture Wars, I’ve just finished reading Pam’s post. I was totally unaware that President Ford refused to tow the fundy line.

The Incredible Beauty Of Astronomy

Allow me to move from the Ugliness Of The Trolls Of God in the Jersey Girls thread to the stunning and captivating Artistry Of Mother Nature.

I’d much rather talk about beauty and science, than ignorance and religion.

Dr. Phil Plait of BadAstronomy has sorted through thousands of astronomical images taken this year and picked out his top ten, and they are absolutely breathtaking.

As a teaser, his #3 pick is the Tsunami On The Sun animation of photos that we also blogged about on December 9th.

Take the time to check this out. The immensity of Mother Nature’s majesty is overwhelming, especially when you get to #1.

Former President Ford Is Dead

President FordVia The Huffington Post, comes this sad news.

Former President Gerald Rudolph Ford, Jr. has died at the age of 93.

The nation’s 38th president, and the only one elected to neither the office of president nor vice president, died at his desert home at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Former President Carter described him Wednesday as “one of the most admirable public servants and human beings I have ever known.” Former
President Clinton said, “all Americans should be grateful for his life of service.” The first President Bush said “Ford was, simply put, one of the most decent and capable men I ever met.”

Ford was an accidental president. A Michigan Republican elected to Congress 13 times before becoming the first appointed vice president in 1973 after Spiro Agnew left amid scandal, Ford was Nixon’s hand-picked successor, a man of much political experience who had never run on a national ticket. He was as open and straightforward as Nixon was tightly controlled and conspiratorial.

Ford took office moments after Nixon resigned in disgrace over Watergate.

“My fellow Americans,” Ford said, “our long national nightmare is over. Our Constitution works. Our great republic is a government of laws and not of men. Here the people rule.”

A great statement, and one which I hope we can all think on in this time of national mourning.

Trolly The Perv

I notice our newest troll fails to mention to his readers how he was up at 3AM trolling a 17 y.o. Lesbian’s girl with no sexual preference’s blog and chatting about sex as an example of his moral stature, not here, here, here, here, here… in fact, nowhere on his blog can I find a mention of it.

Funny how only half a story gets told by fine, upstanding, morally superior trolls like “On Lawn”, ain’t it?

He also doesn’t mention how he rushed right over at 8:45 this morning to the 17 year old lesbo’s blog to chat some more about hot lesbo sex and make her cry.

Geez, for a guy whose whole blog is about homo sex, you’d think he’d have something to say about that, wouldn’t ya?

Enjoy the trackbacks, Asshole (though I doubt they’ll be allowed to stand).

What Did Santa Leave You?

He left us breathless. See the comments in this post at Raging Rainbows.

I got a new teddy, some perfume, a gift certificate for a day at the spa with all the services included, a little black dress with matching thigh highs, and some strappy heels.

Shakespeare got a stocking full of squeeky toys, and he seems to be having trouble deciding which is his favorite.

Kate will have to tell you what I got for her. Most of it involved a surreptitious trip to a store in which I’m not supposed to be. Apparently, the sales clerk (who is really hot, but shall remain nameless) is a reader of this little blog, and “services” Kate whenever she goes in there. 🙂

She “forgot” to check the age on my driver’s license after I mentioned Kate and she put two and two together. I believe we’ll have to have her for dinner soon.

😉

Hope your Holiday was as magical as ours!

Kisses.

Update on Senator Tim Johnson

About two weeks ago I blogged about the news that Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) underwent surgery for an intracerebral bleed the day before (December 13th), and his illness’ potential impact on control of the United States Senate.

I haven’t been able to find much in the way of recent updates, but on the 19th, his wife Barbara released an upbeat statement, thanking South Dakotans for their kind support. As of that release, Senator Johnson was still in the Intensive Care Unit, in critical but stable condition.

“We know he is getting the best medical care at George Washington University Hospital right now. They have gone above and beyond to offer us support as a family as well. They are even helping me plan a small birthday party for Tim next week when the family will be back together. However, it is the love and support we are getting from South Dakota that will pull him through. We have letters and cards covering the walls in the hospital room from people across the state. It means so much to know that South Dakotans have been so supportive,” Mrs. Johnson continued.

“Tim and I were supposed to be wrapping gifts today at the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls for the Children’s Home Society. I can assure you that we’d rather be back home right now getting into the Christmas spirit, but before long, he’ll be back home visiting with the people that have shown him such amazing support. I can’t thank South Dakotans enough,” she concluded.

Just to keep you all abreast.

Our best wishes go out to the Senator and his family, and despite the political ramifications of his medical issues, our concern is for them as people first, and to him as a Senator a remotely distant second.

Get well soon, Senator.

Ann Coulter: Brainless

BrainlessOMFG this is Awesome!

Buy the frickin’ book at Amazon.com!

(Kisses to bjm at The Panda’s Thumb)

I have to pee now….

Oh crap. Wait, wait, wait.

The Editorial Review at Amazon.com….

Book Description

She is an uncompromising apologist for the right and a hater of all things left. Is there anything she won’t do or say to further her agenda? The answer is no.

Brainless: The Lies and Lunacy of Ann Coulter is an unbridled look at a woman who twists the truth, misleads, plays loose with facts and allusions, and has been accused of plagiarism in hammering home her logic-defying arguments.

Brainless illustrates the dangers, ironies, and hypocrisies of the Mistress of Malice. She spews her venom generously across the spectrum. Democrats and Liberals are just the beginning. If you’re a woman (you shouldn’t vote), gay (you’re going to hell), a 9/11 widow (dancing on your murdered husband’s grave) or Bill Clinton (slurs and charges too numerous to mention here), you will find yourself the object of her ire.

Now it’s time to turn the tables and take a good hard look at the High Priestess of Hypocrisy. Journalist Joe Maguire takes apart her arguments, picks apart her agenda, and gives us a look at the psychology and background of the woman who has reduced public political and cultural debate to browbeating and name-calling.

Diligently researched (with source notes you can verify!;), Maguire separates fact from myth and gives us an unvarnished look at the REAL Ann Coulter.

Let’s face it. You don’t ever want to read a book by Ann Coulter. Read this so you don’t have to!

I have to pee again….

A Blog Of Beauty

Wow. I’m just bowled over by Molly’s Mirror.

It’s a tootsie-roll of poetry, prose, photography, and beauty. I wanted to leave a comment, but I wasn’t even sure what to say.

This one is my favorite so far, I think. The photo, and the prose.

Plus, I wanted to squirt right back here and tell you all.

It’s that good.

Fair warning, though:

If you are offended by sensuality, well then you’re a prude anyway, so don’t bother. (No porn, but some very beautiful nudes.) In fact, if you’re offended by sensuality, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?

Barbara Forrest Discusses The History Of Dover

(Kisses to Steve Reuland at The Panda’s Thumb and of course to Judge John E. Jones III.)

Read it here:
The “Vise Strategy” Undone:
Kitzmiller et al. v. Dover Area School District
By Barbara Forrest

Having been busy cleaning up this new joint, I totally forgot to commemorate the first anniversary of the Kitzmiller v. Dover decision.

Consider this a belated “Happy Anniversary”.
