Over at Aetiology, our very favorite scienceblogger Dr. Tara Smith lays into a bone-headed remark made by one of her colleagues. Apparently, Razib of Gene Expression finds it noteworthy that a pretty girl would be conversant in Science Fiction.
That just bugs me. Pretty much anything I’d care to say about that is said by Dr. Tara, so go take a read.
But let me just interject one little thought here. Dr. Tara mentions in passing,
“I’m no lingerie model, but even I get that sometimes too, and I’m sure many attractive women do as well–people wonder if they’re competent in their job for the sole reason that they’re also “smokin”.”
For what it’s worth, you’ve demonstrated beyond a doubt that you are competent, you are most definitely “smokin”, and the only reason you’re not a lingerie model is because you’ve chosen not to be, Dr. Tara, not because you couldn’t be.
Kisses to you.
Raspberries to Razib. Wake up and smell the 21st century.
