When The Going Gets Tough

The Tough Go Shopping

Blogger was acting Wiggy, so we went shopping in Wilmington.

I’ve got a few little things to do, then we’ll get to what few comments managed to get through the mess that was Blogger.

Kisses,

    It’s still acting wiggy. 😉
By the way what were you doing in my neck of the woods? It’s been a while since I’ve been to Jax, but there isn’t anything in my mall that isn’t in your mall. Or did you visit Mayfaire? I rather like the whole idea of the place.

Yep, Mayfaire and the Cotton Exchange. I love both of those places.

Next time we’re down there, we’re going to visit the Battleship.

I really like driving down that one main street in Wilmington that has all the hanging moss over the road from the big trees on the side. The natural canopy is beautiful. We didn’t go that way this time, so I didn’t get to see it, but usually I make a point to go by there just to see that.

    Kisses,
    JanieBelle

I’m going to assume you are talking about Market St. but that is not the only strret that could be described that way. Wilmington is nice* in its way but I have lived here too long now and am ready to move on.

Oh, I hope you’re not moving too far!

As for the street, I don’t know the real name of it in town. It’s 17. When you come south from Jacksonville, and are heading through town, there’s a really quaint, old style section of homes along the main boulevard there. Then you have to make a left to stay on 17, and that takes you out of that section.

Whenever I’d come down to visit Ruthie, that’s the way we’d go to get to the Battleship.

Now we make that left off of 17 (Military Rd., I think?) that takes you to Mayfaire, and we miss that section. I still like to come back around to go through there, even though it’s longer, but if Ruthie’s driving, we just go straight down that road that Mayfaire is on.

Yeah that’s 17South. Mayfaire is on Military Cutoff, and yes that leads downtown too, but a couple of miles away from Mayfaire the name changes to Oleander Dr. even though you are still on the same road.
It’s funny that while I was tracking down my battleship pages you said you would like to see it. Well you can see some of those in England too if you want to.

You mentioned a sextant in the science thread. There is a shop in the Cotton Exchange that you could find one in, or maybe it is on Front St. a few doors down from there, I cna’t remember.

Anyway, I’ll venture around tomorrow to comment. I ahven’t made all the comments I’ve promised to.

    ciao, vino

PS Is there still a Kettle on 17N a few miles into Jax?

Kate says that as far as she knows, it’s still there. We usually take the bypass now, though, so we don’t go by there. Kate says she’s never been there (I didn’t even know what it was!), but used to hear people talk about it. We’ll have to be out that way tomorrow, actually, so we’ll take a peek for you.

It’s funny that while I was tracking down my battleship pages you said you would like to see it.

Oh, I’ve been on the North Carolina before, it’s sort of a tradition now whenever we come down to visit Ruthie we go visit the Battleship. Funny enough, though, Kate’s never been to visit the Battleship.

    Some Marine!

There’s a ship like a battleship in the river in London, but I didn’t get to go on it last year. Maybe we’ll check it out, and then come back and go visit the North Carolina to compare. That would be interesting.

You know I’ve been to the Cotton Exchange several times, but I’ve only been out and about on the road there once. It always seems like we spend so much time in the Cotton Exchange, we don’t have the energy to go anywhere else. All those steps everywhere don’t help, either!

I like that little shop that’s sort of upstairs over the glass shop. You know the one with all the pretty glass globes with stuff inside them? Then theres that incense shop up above it? That place always smells so good.

The Celtic Shop on the bottom floor by the parking lot is neat, too, but it doesn’t really have enough room. I wish they could put more stuff in that place.

The clock shop right there is cool, too, but those things are outragiously expensive.

Did you know the Christmas shop doesn’t carry village houses anymore? That sucks. I have a whole collection of little houses and people and stuff, and I used to buy at least one in there every year when we came down on vacation. Now they won’t have them.

    😦
