…and let the Marines sleep in. Yes, I know people are dying, and that’s the BEST reason to stop the war, but CNN’s already covered that, and President Bush doesn’t seem to care about that.
Maybe if we listed all the selfish reasons why the war should end, perhaps he will reconsider his position.
First and foremost, as much as I love getting up and having coffee with Kate before she goes off to work, it would be delicious if she didn’t go in until 10.
And she could come home early.
Look, if there’s no war, and let’s just take a moment and dream big, if there’s no war anywhere, involving anyone, then our armed forces could be doing something really important. Defending our country is important, but if there were no one to defend it against they could be helping the advancement of humanity at large.
Like helping with national disasters.
With all the money the country would save on tanks and bombs, we could send them all to college for free, and they could be doctors and teachers.
We could build a space ship that actually goes somewhere, instead of in little circles around the earth. (How do they not get dizzy up there, by the way?)
We could use the military to build free houses for the homeless.
And Kate and I could sleep in late. Now that’s worth fighting for.
