A dozen of your favorite New York City sex bloggers and sex educators are joining together to support Sex Work Awareness, a non-profit whose mission statement says it all:

We believe that all sex workers have a right to self-determination; to choose how we make a living and what we do with our bodies.

We aim to empower our diverse community by building the capacity of sex worker-serving and sex worker member-based institutions as well as the skills and resources of sex workers themselves.

We also conduct research about sex workers and the sex industry in order to better understand it, develop public education initiatives, and advocate for the rights of sex workers.

The theme is burlesque. The poses will be sexy. And who will be posing? Take a look, below the fold!

In Which I am Offered Cash

Yes.  I have been offered cash.  Dinero.  Moolah.  Hard currency in (presumably) American Greenbacks.  (For whatever they’re worth these days…)

Yes, I believe I will accept the offer.  It’s mostly about negotiating the price at this point.  “For what,” you ask tentatively?  For (almost) exactly what you think, and possibly dread… Sex.  Well, not sex, exactly.  For my opinion on sex.

This morning I received in my inbox an Email, hand written typed and not spam generated, an offer of money to place an advertisement on this blog.  Specifically, a porn ad.  No, I will not be adding that ad, so don’t panic.  I don’t like paid advertisements of any kind on personal blogs (and I’m pretty sure WordPress.com doesn’t allow them anyway, but that’s really a moot point to me).

Upon my declining of that kind offer however, an alternative suggestion was made.  It is that suggestion which I believe I’ll be accepting.

Puss ‘n Boots and Other Odds ‘n Ends

There are a couple little things that have accumulated in my files, things that I wanted to mention on the blog here at UDoJ, but are short little things more amenable to being Tweeted at Twitter, really. I’m going to round some of them up and sort of make a grab bag for you.

First and foremost, Kate needs good head. She’s changed the look of her blog, which is really cool looking now. But she needs a header graphic. I’ve thought about doing it myself, but in all honesty, I’m afraid there will be too much ‘me’ in it, and not enough Kate.

Molly suggested holding a contest, to see who can come up with the most Kate-like header graphic. I’m kind of liking that idea, and maybe if she feels a little more at home, she’ll post more. (Knee high leather boots would help with that, just so y’know.)  If there’s interest, maybe that’s just what we’ll do. Plus, giving Molly a peek above our garters is sure to get us a peek above hers. Well, that’s more like a long stare, actually…

Creationist Gone Wild

A peek above our garters to Richard B. Hoppe, of Talk Rational, over at The Panda’s Thumb for this.

Seems some psycho fundy named John Freshwater was “teaching” some interesting things in his public school classroom in Mt. Vernon, OH.  Today, the school board voted unanimously to kick his sorry ass to the curb.  See that picture?  That’s not teaching.  That’s abuse.  (At least one family has filed a federal lawsuit against Freshwater and the district.)

The Board’s resolution cited four basic grounds for its resolution [to terminate Freshwater]:

1. Freshwater burned crosses in students’ arms using a high voltage, high frequency leak detection device, ignoring the manufacturer’s safety instructions associated with the device.

2. Freshwater taught material on thermodynamics, the Big Bang, the age of the earth, and the periodic table that is not in the approved curriculum or American Content Standards. Mr. Freshwater also taught ID and creationism in contravention of the curriculum and the First Amendment to the Constitution. He did so in direct contradiction of school board policy and administrative instructions. The resolution noted that Freshwater’s 2003 request to teach those materials had been denied by the board, so subsequently teaching them was insubordination.

3. In monitoring the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Freshwater exceeded his monitoring role by conducting prayers, recommending speakers, and generally taking a directive role rather than a monitoring role.

4. Mr. Freshwater did not remove all religious materials from his classroom as instructed by school administrators and in fact brought additional materials in to “make a point.”

Suga, Suga, Sugasm 136

Before we get to the Sugasm proper, please allow me a quick remark.

I’ve been asked and have been considering why I submit these things to the Sugasm, because frankly I don’t feel like they fit well there. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading the Sugasm. I just feel a little like a round hole trying to fit myself around a square prick peg, if that makes any sense. The stories in the Sugasm are about the sex. “I fucked her hard, and she came in my eye while rubbing her pussy…” What I try to write is a story that happens to have sex in it. For one thing, I enjoy writing that more. For another, I suck at writing explicit sex scenes. They always sound like they were written by a fourteen year old boy. In that sense, I don’t really mesh well with the Sugasm, and that’s probably why I never get picked.

I’ve looked around, but I’m either too much for a regular blog carnival, or not explicit enough for the porn carnivals. If you happen to stumble across a carnival where I might be a better fit, please let me know by comment or Email. (My address can be found in the right sidebar.)
